Legacy is a new class at Nipmuc that allows students to explore their passions and connect their interests to the competencies of a Portrait of a Graduate. Derived from I3 (pronounced eye cubed), a previous class at Nipmuc, Legacy has been designed to be a more structured independent study. The "structure" comes from the 4 (or more) inquiries that each student has to create and connect to their passions. These inquiries are specific to each student (though collaboration is encouraged), and are the outlines of what students should be dong in their class time to reach their goals.
What is the Portrait of a Graduate?
Nipmuc Regional High School hopes to create independent individuals and send them out into the world with tools that can be helpful when collaborating with others and spreading new ideas. To do so, Nipmuc has become very interested in the competencies of a Portrait of a Graduate (in simple terms, it is an outline of the traits necessary for young adults to tackle the challenges of the real world).
